Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Controller to lead accounting and financial operations across a portfolio of related entities. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting leadership with timely reporting and analysis. The role is well-suited for someone who thrives in complex, multi-entity environments and enjoys building structure, process, and visibility across organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Entity Oversight
• Manage the setup and ongoing maintenance of legal entities, including formation documents and compliance records
• Ensure organizational records are accurate, complete, and up to date

Banking & Treasury Operations
• Establish and administer bank accounts across multiple entities
• Maintain relationships with financial institutions
• Oversee intercompany cash movement between operating and investment entities

Cash Management & Reconciliations
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all entities
• Monitor cash balances and ensure accurate reporting and timely transfers

Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Coordinate accounts payable and receivable activity across entities
• Prepare payment packages for executive approval and communicate with vendors
• Run scheduled A/P cycles and handle time-sensitive or one-off payments
• Execute payments via check, wire, ACH, and other methods

Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Maintain both cash-basis and accrual-basis records where required
• Prepare and review financial statements with senior leadership
• Produce detailed monthly reporting packages for management review

Payroll, Benefits & Compliance
• Oversee payroll processing and 1099 reporting
• Coordinate benefits administration and manage the relationship with the PEO
• Serve as point of contact for external accountants and support tax filings

Budgeting & Forecasting
• Develop quarterly budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections at the entity and consolidated levels

Ownership & Structure Tracking
• Track ownership interests across entities, including multi-tier and pass-through structures

Systems & Process Improvement
• Maintain and enhance accounting systems, including QuickBooks across multiple entities

Office Support (as applicable)
• Coordinate office pantry supplies and refreshments
• Arrange occasional team lunches or in-office meals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA a plus
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for multiple entities
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
• Highly organized with strong communication skills
• Background in real estate or investment-oriented accounting environments
